The Great Alaska Cruise Ship

Everyone needs rest and relaxation. If the weekend is not enough to recharge those batteries, perhaps taking a week or a two off sounds like a good idea. Staying at home might not get the mind off work so leaving town or the country is an option.

More people are traveling up north to Alaska these days instead of south towards the Bahamas or the Caribbean. This is because a lot of people are curious about how it is up there and those who have gone there also recommend the same thing to future travelers.

Tourists can get to Alaska by plane but for those who want to take it slow, there are cruise ships that are ready to set sail.

A cruise ship bound for Alaska or any other country is like living in a floating city in the middle of the ocean. There are bars, discos, casinos, movie halls and theaters that will keep the guests entertained until the ship reaches its destination.

The Royal Caribbean, Princess, Celebrity, Silversea, Radisson, Holland America, Norwegian, and Carnival are the biggest companies that regularly sail to Alaska. Each vessel has luxurious cabins and other amenities that can house more than 1500 passengers each.

People will surely gain a few pounds with the international cuisine being served. This can be prevented by sweating it out at the gym and relaxing afterwards in the Aqua Spa, which is the first of its kind to be built.

Cruise ships going to Alaska are known to be very crowded during the peak months. Since the demand is high, smaller companies like Clipper and Cruise West have also joined in the fray by taking accepting 120 to 150 passengers on each trip.

The cruise ships bound for Alaska depart from either Los Angeles or San Francisco. This means tourists will also make travel arrangements to get to the airport and then from there move on to the port.

Each of the cruise ships will make stopovers in various ports in Canada and Alaska before returning home. This will give the passengers enough time to see the sights, do some shopping and participate in some of the local activities.

Alaskan bound cruise ships are available all throughout the year. The peak months are usually between May until September when the weather is just right. There are trips even during the lean months of December and January, which will make this year’s holidays a little different than before.

Those who are interested should inquire some basic information to be able to start planning the trip. The customer should consider what type of room to reserve and how long the voyage will be since the shortest is a week while the longest is 18 days.

Reservations can be done by phone or online and after making the necessary arrangements, the guest should pack and get to the port on time.

It will be a good idea to bring a digital camera so this can be shown to the people back home. Surely everyone will be amazed by the huge glaciers, the hump back whales, dog sledding and a lot more which tourists can check out after reaching port.

Those who see it for real instead of just hearing about will be encouraged to visit Alaska for real by also riding the same or similar cruise ship.
